Based on the water strider floating on the water surface and the basic principles of movement, bionic water strider robot can mimic the hydrophobic characteristics of the water strider leg and work in the remote water area independently. In present the bionic water strider robot still at the laboratory stage, in order to make the robot work in the difficult environment independently, there are many problems to be solved. Thus, researching and designing bionic water strider robots not only has important scientific significance, but also in the military and civilian applications.Researching the material hydrophobic characteristics by statics can provide theories for the design of the hydrophobic supporting leg, design a new hydrophobic metal supporting leg and develop a new kind of bionic water strider robot, and analyze its speed and stability of linear movement and steering movement.First of all, we research the structure of the water strider leg, to learn about the principles of floating and movement. From the hydrophobic leg we can get the theoretical formula of the lift force and pull-out force, which used to guide the development the hydrophobic metal supporting leg, the experiment of the water strider leg verify the hydrophobic properties.Based on hydrophobic material, we develop a new kind of hydrophobic metal supporting leg, and research this leg by the hydrophobic theory, make a new test robot to test the load capacity of the supporting leg.Determine the way of robot stroke, design the driving leg, design robot control circuit, the main controller and handheld control, develop bionic water strider robot. Then, research the speed of robot linear motion and steering movement and the stability of robot by fluid mechanics theory.Finally, by the experiments of the robot's movement, we can fully test the flexibility, stability and load capacity of the water strider robot.
