The development of Internet and information technology intensifies the trend of industry informatization in various sectors, and then all kinds of application systems appear. A lot of business data have been stayed in these heterogeneous application systems which lack relations with each other, therefore useful data can not be repeated used, finally many"Information Islands"are formed which result waste of resources. On the other hand, data sharing of different systems needs exporting data from one system, sorting out the data and inserting into another system. The whole process should costs lots of manpower, material resources and time. Consequently, the research of the data transmission under distributed heterogeneous environment is necessary.In order to satisfy the requirements of data transmission under distributed heterogeneous environment, many protocols have come forth, for example DCOM, CORBA, SOAP, JSON-RPC, XML-RPC, PHPRPC and so on. Openness and extension of SOAP have great advantage on distributed data transmission development. Consequently, this thesis focus on light weight data transmission protocol, SOAP, and the works are as follows:Firstly, security of SOAP is researched, and a security extension of the Simple Object Access Protocol is proposed, which is named Se-SOAP. The data transmission under distributed systems brings large challenge on security. It is an urgent problem that to ensure the reliability and security of exchanged message. The data transmission using XML as data format faces some problems, like security of end to end, encryption of part message and security under different protocols, therefore, enhancing security of message on"message level"is important. According to WS-Security and based on Apache service framework CXF, SOAP security extension is researched in this work, and SOAP architecture, syntax, work theory and implement method are presented. At the same time, a secure method without client certificates of WS-Security is proposed, which reduces load of transmission and speed the transmission accordingly.Secondly, various demands in actual process of data transmission on existing distributed systems platforms are analyzed, for instance transferring different type data, supporting high transmission rate, etc. We describe in detail how the Se-SOAP using, and propose solutions for these requirements in data transfer process. Then proving Se-SOAP can meet data transmission requirements under distributed heterogeneous environment.Thirdly, Degree and Graduate Education Management System should exchange data between colleges and center side. In order to achieve interconnection of the heterogeneous systems, the extended SOAP is used, and data transmission functions are finished.
