LTE (Long Term Evolution) is widely considered as a broadband solution for mobile communication of B3G against with WiMAX. Because multi-antenna technology can break through the capacity "bottleneck" and improve the reliability of wireless communication system, it has been regarded as a key technology of LTE. Although multi-antenna technology is capable of dramatically improving the spetral efficiency, unfortunately, it becomes ineffective when interference levels are high. As a further enhancement technology of LTE, LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) proposes coordinated multi-point transmission/reception (CoMP) which applys suitable processing methods at the transmitter and receiver to suppress interference, providing significant gains to cell-edge users' rates as well as system capacity. We present the multi-antenna transmission models under LTE downlink system, in which the formulas of received signal's SINR are investigated and the scheduling algorithm of multi-user MIMO combined with the codebook based precoding is proposed. By carrying the system level simulation, the effects of different multi-antenna modes on the sector throughput and fairness of users within the system are analyzed. In LTE-A system, due to the shortcoming of the traditional static frequency allocation plan (SFAP) for SU-CoMP mode, a optimized dynamical frequency allocation plan (DFAP) with the cooresponding joint PF scheduling algorithm is proposed. Simulation results show that the DFAP scheme outperforms SFAP on the sector throughput especially on the cell-edge users' rates. For MU-CoMP, based on the non-codebook based BD-SVD precoding algorithm, this paper propose distributed data streams transmission scheme (DDS-MU-CoMP), and compare the performances in terms of sector throughput, cell-edge users'rates and overhead in the uplink with the single cell independent scheduling method of MU-CoMP and DFAP of SU-CoMP. Finally, advantages of different CoMP modes under different performance criterions are investigated.
