As the traditional personal identification system is going to expose its inevitable defects in modern society, a new identification technology is required more urgently, which has the high reliability, easy-to-use and etc. Fingerprint recognition is one of the most widely used biometric technologies, which inherently has high reliability and convenient usage. Fingerprint identification technology has already been used in many special fields, such as criminal investigation and so on, which proves its practicability and reliability. However, many of today's fingerprint identification system are still implemented on the PCs and servers, which has hardly mobility and high power consumption and uneasy to be used in some mobility environment. On the contrary, the fingerprint recognition based on the embedded system has high mobility, low power consumption, high speed and practicability. The research and optimization of fingerprint identification system based on the embedded platform are given in this thesis.The main research work of this thesis is summarized as follows:1. The state-of-art technology in fingerprint identification system are introduced;2. The detail analysis of our fingerprint identification algorithm is described;3. With the consideration of the features of embedded platform, the algorithms are optimized.The experimental results show that the optimized algorithm needs less execution time and memory, and satisfy the requirement of some practical applications.
