Research On Moving Vehicle Detection And Velocity Extraction From Satellite Image

With the development of remote sensing technology and satellite space resolution increasing, high resolution satellite image is becoming wider and wider in different fields. Meanwhile, it is known as extracting traffic parameters based on high resolution image, and it provides probability for traffic monitor and control every day. The thesis aims to detect moving vehicles and extract velocity from satellite image. Firstly, it has an instruction of current research situation at home and abroad, and elementary theory knowledge of image processing. Secondly, it probes the following research aspects into moving vehicles detection and velocity extraction.(1) Due to the characters of high resolution satellite image and refer to visual interpretation principle, the thesis detects moving vehicles based on object-oriented image classification method. By carrying out multi-scale segmentation technology for moving vehicles detection in the road section, building up moving vehicles detection image object hierarchical structure and image fuzzy classification, it finishes the task of moving vehicles detection.(2) The thesis uses panchromatic image as benchmark image and multispectral image as registration image, to registration and fusion between them. By this, it will obtain geographical coordinates of moving vehicles in the two time phase, and calculate vehicles moving distance, finally to extract velocity by the time gap.(3) Checking examples by empirical data. The thesis chooses three road sections of different levels and road intersections whether or not to detect moving vehicles and extract velocity. Thus, it makes a precision evaluation of detection results and the results shows that object-oriented image classification method has higher detection rate, which is higher than percent 90. Based on panchromatic and multispectral images registration and fusion technology the vehicles velocity extraction results coincide with actual shooting video data analysis results, and it proves to have certain applicability.The thesis researches on moving vehicles detection and velocity extraction from satellite image, and it has an important meaning to enrich traffic information collection in ITS and explore traffic parameters extraction method.
