Data transmission is the key function of all kinds of wireless networks. In this paper, we focus on the coding-based data transmission in wireless sensor networks and wireless two-way relaying networks. By associating the decimal degree with the codewords, and by using priority broadcast to exchange codewords, we aim to achieve a better performance of Growth Codes over a wider range of sensor networks applications. Bye generalizing the algorithm of two node communication rate control to the wireless two-way relay networks, we aim to enhance the accuracy of rate estimation. The design of Growth Codes is based on two assumptions:(1) each sensor node contains only one single-snapshot of the monitored environment, and each packet contains only one sensed symbol; (2) all codewords have the same probability to be received by the sink. We generalize the scenarios to include multi-snapshot and less random encounters.Meanwhile, the objective of many applications with the surveillance missions in wireless sensor networks is to provide long-term monitoring of the specific environments. These applications usually perform continuous monitoring without any maintenance, even if some sensor nodes fail. In this paper, we propose a novel coding-based approach, called CAP, to address this specific problem of data collection for distributed surveillance sensor networks in disaster-hit regions. We also address the rate control problem in wireless two-way relaying networks. We propose to generalize the constellation optimization based rate estimation approach to the Alice-Bob communication model.
