In flotation process, froth has obvious color characteristics. It is closely related to flotation conditions. In addition, froth features can reflect the mineral type. Workers often adjust field operation by observing bubble surface color. But it is difficult to get the macroscopic change of bubble surface. Furthermore, it is unable to obtain the visual features' quantitative description of bubble surface accurately. Because of the influence of natural lighting, environment source and shooting scene environment, images has high window, color slants, noise and series of problems inevitably. As a result, it has serious influence on color features measurement results. It is hard to get the comprehensive information of froth image by single color space.To gain accurate color features and find proper mineral flotation froth color measurement method according with human visual perception, RGB color space, Lab color space, and HSV color space are used to extract color features on the basis of analyzing the characteristics of color. But single component of each color space can't reflect the characteristics of information. The method of fusion multi color space is proposed in this paper. And quantitative characterization measurement schemes for froth image are realized. Experiment results show that multi color space fusion method can obtain more accurate measurement results of color characteristics. Finally, according to the acquisition of flotation bubble image information and flotation operation workers experience, it lays basis for monitoring flotation condition by applying color features to practical production.
