Lifting is the backbone of the major industrial sectors ,but it is also one of the eight categories of special equipments and facilities which are life-threatening and dangerous.Conventional measurement techniques of electrical sensing were often used in the health monitoring of lifting machinery before.It can not be achieved on the long-term monitoring of the large crane-line because sensing element of electricity is short-life and environmentally sensitive.Fiber grating sensing technology makes up the deficiency of traditional sensing technology due to its high accuracy, immunity to electromagnetic interference and so on. It can be used to monitor the health of large cranes ,but it exists the problem of temperature compensation etc. In terms of software, it is lack of specialized remote diagnosis and management platform for crane damage alarming.What is more,there are a range of practical issues such as temperature compensation and transien tmeasurement of strain in project site.To these issues, this paper presented a fiber bragg grating sensor system for the health monitoring of crane contrary ,applieded it to a 300t/20t large-scale gantry crane in project site and addresses a range of practical problems,proposed temperature compensation method based on reference grating and crane damage alarming method based on time series analysis. The system could realize quasi-distributed measurement of the crane on the basis of multiple-site testing. So it has the ability of long-line monitoring the crane health with crane damage alarming method.The main work and achievements are as follows:1.This paper set up a fiber bragg grating sensor system for the health monitoring of a crane model in laboratory based on the principle of fiber bragg grating and fiber grating sensor system structure,measureed the forces of crane model in experiments, analyzed error and proposed the temperature compensation method based on reference grating. 2. The two temperature compensation method reference grating and self-compensating package were analyzed by comparing in the experiment,they provided the basis for temperature compensation in crane health monitoring.3. Crane damage alarming method based on ARIMA model and time series analysis was proposed.4. In field application , it solved lots of practical problems in engineering applications by debugging system with crane damage alarming method and management platform was developed in the client.
