Users can ask questions in natural language, and returns for the accurate answers by Q & A System environment ---a new generation of intelligent search engine. Compared with the traditional search engines, the Q & A System can easily meet the needs of searching and retrieves the desired answer for users. This paper studies the two key technologies:question analysis and information retrieval involved in the Chinese Q & A System, with the combination of natural language processing techniques. By applying Visual C++, the Chinese Q & A System has been fulfilled. In addition, the paper puts forward the study of Chinese Q & A System into the voice interface extensions which can be implemented to achieve the non-restricted and the completely automated Q & A System by the voice interface. The results and relevant details are as follows:Firstly, it works out the process on the question analysis based on the Chinese Q & A System.The problem classification is proposed in terms of the process of understanding for the issue; question sentence pattern database is built, sentence pattern analysis is carried out, and that improves the capability of processing the questions in different formats; semantic role labeling is done using the machine learning methods and maximum entropy model as a classification Device, and translated into the semantic framework.Secondly, it studies the other core issues involved in the performance of the Chinese question answering system. FW proposes a retrieval method, including the FAQ library search and Web search. A larger knowledge base is build in order to achieve a local knowledge base search by sharing messages in the network platform. If the local knowledge base search fails, Web search can be obtained by the search engine Google instead as the resources of answers.Finally, the paper also tries to make voice interface access to non-restricted areas of automatic question answering system. The accuracy of speech recognition answering system is running a direct impact on the overall performance. Therefore, the mature IBM Via Voice speech recognition system is advocated to achieve an extended Chinese Q& A system instead of developing a speech recognition system in system designing.
