Software System Design Of Integrated NMR Spectrometer

The integrated NMR Spectrometer is mainly composed of Pulse Sequence Generator, Direct Digital Synthesizer, Gradient Waveform Generator and Receiver which are integrated in only one circuit board. As a result, the cost will be cut down and the integration will be raised. The Spectrometer is designed based on a hardware platform combined of ARM and FPGA. An embedded Linux Operation System which consists of relevant device drivers and applications developed according to the requirements has been transplanted into it.The Spectrometer has many extended features such as keyboard,LCD display,print interface and so on.So that the Spectrometer is equivalent to an embedded device with specific functions that can be used in industrial areas such as sample test.Combined with the GUI control software in PC,the Spectrometer is also equivalent to a real-time front-end equipment which is used to run pulse sequence.It first receives the data sended from PC,then run the pulse sequence.When data acquisition is over,it sends the NMR data to PC which is responsible for computing and processing them.So that the Spectrometer can maximize its function and improve the efficiency of operation to ensure real-time.The GUI control software in PC is developed based on Windows and control the Spectrometer by network.The software system of integrated NMR Spectrometer is mainly divided into two parts.One part is the Spectrometer software.It is composed of embedded Linux system and real-time control software.The other part is the GUI control software in PC.Its function is to choose pulse sequence,set experiment parameters,display the NMR signal and process data.The communication between the Spectrometer and PC is used by network which is programmed based on SOCKET so that the Spectrometer can be controlled and updated in remote distance.The paper elaborates the design thoughts and methods about the software system of integrated NMR Spectrometer.The software system is tested by NMR experiments and the results are discussed.
