Many applications, such as s movies and computer games use computer graphic technology to create nature scenes. Realistic fluid simulation is always required. Due to the complexity of the fluid behavior, describing and modeling fluid base on physics is a crucial technique in the field of computer graphic. While the simulation of complex fluid systems base on physics requires massive computing resource. It limits the production of many applications. So how to get a pretty simulation result with a reasonable computing speed is very important. This paper will try to balance the effect and the efficiency of fluid simulation base on the physics principle. For the new hotspot, Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM) has the advantage in computing speed, boundary handling, many relative works are being advanced by worldwide researchers. The works of this paper are focus on grid construction, interaction with environment. And to accelerate the LBM calculation by taking advantage of the GPU computing captivity. In this paper, the background and foundation of LBM will be enumerated. Then we will take notice of the character of LBM such as highly simultaneous calculation and flexibility on boundary processing. The following chapter will give the implement of LBM on GPU program. The rendering and physics calculation of fluid will both run on GPU. The reflection-refraction, particle system and Ray-cast rendering will be used on fluid visualization. Furthermore, an adaptive grid method of free surface is improved. Finally, impulse principle in rigid motion is utilized to optimize the interaction between fluid and rigid object. The rest parts of paper show how to apply these methods on realistic fluid simulation.
