This work introduces the basic conception and structure of Ad Hoc network and the characteristics, classification of Ad Hoc network routing protocol at first, and then describes the principle in detail for a few various typical wireless routing protocols such as DSDV, AODV, DSR and TORA.Through analysis of AODV protocol, this work indicates that the minimum-hop based routing is not necessarily the best routing in the mobile Ad Hoc network environment, which will affect network throughout and propagation delay, and then proposed a new protocol algorithm based on AODV——BVAL-AODV. The BVAL-AODV algorithm first adds data fields for each node, takes into account of the routing hops and the mobile speed of nodes when selecting path, calculates value with parameters and then stores them in the data field of each node. As forwarding packets, the node accumulates the values in its data field values. When the packet comes to the destination node, the node calculates the entire path weight value and then sorts the value and picks the minimum value to establish the routing path. This work Compared and analyzed the simulation results of the protocol algorithm by setting the simulation scenario under the network simulation platform NS2.29 which took delivery ratio, average delay and load as the evaluation criteria, and the result shows that the improved AODV algorithm BVAL-AODV not only has high data delivery rate, but also reduces the routing load and average delay, effectively improved the network performance.
