Small Supermarket Intelligent Monitoring System

Supermarkets and chains which have plenty functions and sources spring up in every corner of the city with the pace of life in the city changed quickly. They become important consuming places for citizen. However, as the customers choose goods without monitoring, security is becoming big problems in supermarkets. In order to solve this problem, there is a greater demand of supermarket security cameras. Security monitoring system for small supermarket has been studied in this thesis.An intelligent monitoring system was designed in this paper, which can do real-time monitoring combined with video recording. And it can achieve motion detecting which involves background modeling and background updating at large scene; It also can achieve hand gesture recognition which involves image processing, feature extraction and so on at small scene. Using this monitoring system can dramatically reduce the strength of monitor staff and improve the security efforts greatly at the same time.The research of this thesis includes:1. The system with intelligent monitoring and automatic recording functions take the place of traditional supermarket artificially monitoring which has to monitoring by manual labor all the time. It improves the monitoring result greatly while reducing people's labor intensity.2. It puts forward a method with strong adaptability and robustness for background updates. It can overcome the interference which is bringing from unstable background in motion detecting. So it can make real-time background updates more accurately.3. Using hand gesture recognition technology to real-time monitoring which improved the monitoring system's burglary ability greatly.4. Taking two steps to identify hand gestures which makes the identification results more reliable.
