Network printers have been increasingly used by modern enterprises, and the problem of the network printing security has been paid more and more attention, but its researches at home and aboard is still blank. How to set up a security system to protect the printing data has become an urgent problem which should be solved.Aiming at design requirement of network printers, a deep study is made on the mechanism and realization of the network packet capturing on Windows platform. This thesis formulates all current network packets capturing methods, and makes a summarization and comparison on working mechanism, implementation and the application environment in each category. The thesis then presents a platform capturing and encrypting network data from network printers based on the technology of NDIS intermediate driver and RC4 encryption algorithm, which captures, analyses, filters and uses RC4 to encrypt the printing data, ensuring the security of network printing. An illustration is made on architecture, design philosophy of each module, the methods of realization as well as the implementations of the key technology in the platform. The thesis concludes with a testing result of the entire security printing system and makes a comprehensive evaluation of the system efficiency.The testing result shows that functions on the platform of capturing and encrypting network printing data meets the requirement of generality, expansibility and security of network printing.
