With the development of information science and technology, Biometric technology has changed from the original theoretical research stage to the stage of practical application. There are a few automation devices based on a biometric technology using in the public. The Automated Fingerprint Identification System is one of them, and the fingerprint matching algorithm is the key of the whole systemThe framework of the fingerprint identification system and all the major modules have been described in the paper, then the status research of the fingerprint matching algorithm and its matching principle have been analyzed.Through the analysis and study of matching algorithms based on the Alignment function and neighborhood structure information of the feature point, a two-stage fingerprint matching algorithm based on the detailed feature information has been proposed. It has been made by two stages. In the first phase of matching, if the similarity of the two fingerprint images is so different, they would be eliminated immediately, in the second stage, compare the rest of the template database with the collected fingerprint images, the result can be given in a short time. Through the two-stage fingerprint matching, we can short the process of fingerprint matching and improve the accuracy of matching algorithm after narrow the range of fingerprints. This paper includes the following three aspects:1.In the stage of the first matching, through the analysis and study of point matching algorithm based on the alignment function, the fast matching algorithm based on the Singular point is proposed. After a rapid detection and matching about the singular points in the finger patterns, if the value of the similarity can't meet the need of a threshold, it can't be from the same finger so that the image can't be take into next stage.2.In the stage of the second matching, through the analysis and study of matching algorithm based on the ridge feature of the fingerprint structure, a fingerprint matching algorithm based on neighborhood structure information of the feature point has been proposed. In the algorithm, we can compute the similarity through the minutiae around the feature points. When the need of matching is met, the result is successful.3.In the last, a automatic fingerprint identification system based on the Internet of Things has been proposed. It can meet the specific needs of authentication, Besides that, the authentication related information will be shared on the Internet of Things. Therefore, the automatic fingerprint identification system has a more wide-area applications.The result of the research in the paper is helpful to enhance the performance of the fingerprint match algorithm, improving the recognition speed and efficiency.
