With the high-speed development of the social economy and the unremitting progress of science and technology, manufacturing industry has reached at an unprecedented high level and the techniques used in the process of producing product become more complicated.In current markets,all kinds of products with completed functions and different styles,have been improving people's living quality.At the same time,these products also change people's consumption concept.People treat new products with higher tastes and more requirements.Due to different consumption concepts and aesthetic perception,consumers'requirements about products differ from person to person.Because of these reasons,product design has been becoming more and more difficult.It also causes more vigorous market competition directly.In order to hold the dominant position,enterprises have to put the important part of new products development at the product creative design.So the proposal of the best design project becomes the main goal of all dedigners in the shortest possible time. Creative design can satisfy the novel and ever-changing market demands and help to make products more competitive. Thus, innovative design has become one of the popular research items in computer-aided design field in recent years.The rise of computational intelligence technology provides us a new approach for exploring conceptually creative design that is evolving. Evolutionary design is a type of design process for improvement to meet the demands of new products while preserve the excellent performance of existing products. Evolutionary design applies a variety of computational intelligence technology to different design fields. The required design results are obtained through computational intelligence algorithm such as genetic algorithm, particle swarm optimization, differential evolution, etc. that is the basic computational tool and a combined computation of various design theory. As the evolutionary design approach can mimic genetic characteristics such as the biological crossover and mutation of chromosome, the advantage of evolutionary design consists in obtaining humanlike intelligence, as well as quick and effective solutions of general problems.In fact, the evolutionary design methodology has become one of the most important innovative design techniques; Moreover, computational intelligence technology has begun to be applied to innovative conceptual design. This thesis reviewed the computational intelligence algorithms, including its origin, fundamental principles, mechanisms, features, as well as applications. In addition to this, the thesis improved genetic algorithms and particle swarm optimization algorithm and applied them to the innovative concept design of sofa.The main innovation of this paper is as follows:1. A method of interactive genetic algorithm is improved and customized. It is applied to the product configuration design .This method could generate design schemes customized by the human with high diversity and quantity.Experinents with several human subjects indicate that the approach is promising to develop creative ecolutionary systems.2. Put forward an improved multi-swarm particle swarm optimization based on varying population size.The particles were initialized with n swarms in the algorithm, we can dynamically adjust the size of swarm by calculating the changes of Pg of each swarm. If the changes of Pg of one swarm do not occur in several generations or changes very little, then we should reduce the number of particles into this swarm. On the contrary, the we should increase the number of particles into this swarm. It is the same situation for all the swarms.3.Bring particle swarm optimizer algorithm to the CAD environment in atuo components assembly. Through the analysis of sofa,the paper sorts out the different components of sofa and found a colorful componet part bank. This paper represents swarm optimizer algorithm of selecting and combining the various sofa components in the bank to create many kinds of different styles of zhe sofa patterns.4.Realize an intelligent creative design prototype system.According to the process of CAD ,this paper develop a visual intelligent creative design prototype system based on computational intelligence,using the VC++ and ACIS/HOOPS on the platform of windows.
