Coating machine is one of key equipment in PDP production line, which is used to format a variety of PDP panel membranes. This paper is mainly about design and analysis the arch structure supporting the coating nozzle. This structure make the nozzle have two degrees of freedom. The first degree is horizontal movement driven by the linear motor. The second is that the nozzle driven by the rotating servo motor up and down. All of structures supported by the air bearing suspended above the marble base. Screw and guide rail is installed in the inside of the arch structure to ensure vertical positioning accuracy and stiffness. Because both the horizontal and the vertical movements have high accuracy, the grating rule installed to compose the formation of closed loop control system is absolutely necessary. Since the high positioning precision, we took full account in the structure's deformation which has an effect on the positioning accuracy of the nozzle. Considered the large cost of the equipment in design, we strive to meet the accuracy requirements in structural design under the premise of the lightest, smallest, high-adjustable. This article determines the transmission chain in the arch structure and selects standard components, designs the structural including some structural optimization by Pro-e and ANSYS tools, makes a mechanics analysis of the structure.
