RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology is a kind of non-contact automatic identification technology using radio frequency signal to communicate. With the advantages of rapidity, efficiency, reliability and non-line-reading, RFID is widely used in the field of data collection and item identification. However, because of its open authentication environment and limitations of tag's hardware, RFID system encounters a variety of security problems which limit its application. Now it becomes a hotspot to design a safe, efficient, and low-cost RFID secure protocol.First of all, this thesis briefly introduces the architecture and principle of RFID system. And the RFID system's security and privacy issues are analyzed and typical security measures are reviewed, especially the design of secure authentication protocol. Secondly, a serverless RFID authentication protocol and several suggestions to fulfill ownership transfer and scalability are proposed in the scenario where the reader and the back-end server cannot create a safe, reliable, durable and continuous connection. By comparative analysis we find the authentication protocol achieves the trade-off between security needs and low spending. Finally, another serverless RFID search protocol is proposed, which is a natural extension of a secure RFID authentication protocol. And its security and expense are analyzed in detail. It is shown that the severless RFID authentication and search protocol proposed is a key technology to pervasive computing and suitable for application due to its security and flexibility.
