This paper mainly introduced the antenna for ionosphere-level-measurement. The paper put emphasis on the automatic antenna tuner design and the antenna mode selection in the mobile ionosphere-level-measurement system. By means of theoretical analysis, analog simulation and experimental verification, a high-power, rapidly tunable, mobile ionosphere-level-measurement antenna was designed, which had yielded highly desirable results and met the requirements of the consumer in practice testing.An automatic antenna tuner was designed for inverted-V antenna used in ionosphere-level-measurement system, which could provide complete impedance information of the antenna for automatic antenna tuner, By calculating the optimal parameters of LC network, the antenna could be matched speedily, which had advantages of high automation and good power capacity. As a result of the lossless LC network, the antenna system had higher radiation efficiency, which sharply reduced the requirement of mobile ionosphere-level-measurement system.The automatic antenna tuner and the inverted- V antenna was designed and built, connected to the ionosphere-level-measurement instruments, a good result achieved. It showed the inverted- V antenna coordinating with automatic antenna tuner could satisfy the mobile ionosphere-level-measurement system, with a good electrical performance and steady operation in working band.A tri-band circularly polarized antenna is proposed. Based on the traditional crossed-dipole and the theory of transmission line, the antenna was designed for tri-band frequencies operating. Good radiation patterns and axial ratio are presented.
