In recent years, the development and applications of Broadband Multimedia Satellite System have become one of the Hot Technologies of Satellite Communications. The Ka-band Satellite Communication is outstanding for its wide bandwidth (3.5 GHz), large communication capacity, narrow beam, small terminal, anti-jamming capability and other advantages. The Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) Satellite Communication System is flexible, highly reliable, low cost and more convenient and its small station can be directly installed in the clients. The combination of the Ka-band Satellite Communication and VSAT will become a tendency of future Satellite Communication. Rain attenuation is one of the main factors affecting the transmission quality and performance of Ka-band satellite communication systems in practice. This paper begins with a brief analysis of the features of Ka-band rain attenuation and proposes several commonly used Rain Fade approaches for different situations; And then gives a brief introduction of the principles and performance of Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (QPSK) modulation and demodulation technology and Hamming Codes. Finally, we draw a conclusion of a 1.5dB gain could be obtained and the Ka-band signal attenuation of rainfall could be relieved by combining of digital modulation techniques and coding techniques with a comparison of the simulation results at a 10-3 bit error rate and the theoretical value. With the combination of the digital modulation techniques and the coding techniques,we obtained a 1.5dB gain by the simulation and the comparison between the experimental results and the theoretical value at a bit error rate. From the experimental results we drawed a conclusion that the Ka-band signal attenuation of rainfall could be relieved with this method.
