Today, in the digital world, information resouces gradually become the important constituent of the people'lives, and the information security also along with it becomes the popular topic that the people study on. There are lots of phenomena in the real world. Knowledge on chaos is one of the important achievements in nonlinear science. Chaotic systems are characterized by a number of feaures, such as sensitive dependence on initial conditions,aperiodicity, random-like behavior,continuous broadband power spectrum,and so on. These properties coincide with requirements for signals applied in secure communication systems. The research on chaos theory will have huge theoretical significance and practical application value.This paper studies on chaotic theory: firstly, the generation and development of chaos and its secure communication are introduced,then, the definition and characteristics of chaos from chaotic dynamic aspects and methods of chaos studing are discribed. Some multi-dimensional chaotic systems are presented in this paper. According to studing on some classic three-dimensional chaotic systems, a new autonomous three-dimensional chaotic system and its circuitry implementation are given. So as to gain more complex chaotic chatacteristics, four-dimensional chaotic system and five-dimensional chaotic system successively are designed, experimental chaotic behaviors of these systems are found to be identical to corresponding simulations. These systems can be used as new chaotic supply oscillator in cryptography and other correlative fields. Then synchronization of chaos and its applications are discussed,an autonomous three-dimensional chaotic system is taken as example to conduct an experiment, realizing the synchronicity of chaos.In this paper,chaotic secure communication system and its studing methods are discussed. To explain the basic principle of chaotic secure communication, simulation experiment is conducted based on one three-dimensional chaotic system and five-dimensional chaotic system, the results showed that the achievement of complete synchronization and decryption can be accurate.Application of chaotic sequences on information encryption is studied in this paper. Image encryption algorithm and text encryption algorithm are proposed based on one autonomous three-dimensional chaotic system. Using chaotic system to produce real value chaotic sequences,encryption series is made through pretreatment. Realizing the application of chaos in the digital information encryption fields.
