In this dissertation, noble metal nanoclusters have been synthesized on the surface of cystetine (Cys) self–assembled monolayer (SAM) modified Au electrode by use of in situ cyclic voltammetry (CV) method. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and chronoamperometric were used to characterize the properties of this modified electrode. The applications of Cysteamine monolayer inducing the formation of noble metal nanoclusters have been discussed. The results showed that the platinum nanoclusters had excellent electrocatalytic activity towards the oxidation of methanol. There exists linear relationship between the current and concentration of methanol in the range of 1.0×10-5-3.2×10-2 M, and the detection limits were 4.2×10-6 M. Au nanoclusters modified electrode had excellent electrocatalytic activity towareds the oxidation of nitrite and dopamine, and there also exists linear relationship between the currect and concentration in the range of 1.0×10-7 to 2.0×10-6 M for nitrite, 2.5×10-6 to 2.5×10-5 M for dopamine, respectively. The detection limits were 2.5×10-8 M and 4.8×10-7 M.
