As the captain's eyes,marine radar has played a huge role in ship navigation and collision avoidance. Automatic object detection and target tracking has become one of the crucial functions of radar detection system,playing an important role both in the civilian and military fields. With the rapid development of computer technology, graphics and image processing technology and electronic technology,using image processing to achieve the purpose of automatic detecting and tracking the targets in the radar image sequences is a fast,efficient way.Considering this point,aimed at characteristics of non-coherent radar's image,this paper has made a system frame of automatic object detection and target tracking based on related literature inside and outside of China and presented the specific methods and we mainly discuss the methods about the automatic object detection,target tracking. This paper first analyzes the characteristics of marine radar images,and compared the variety algorithm of image smoothing,segmentation,connectivity area mark. Base on the characteristics of marine radar's image,select the suitable image processing algorithms (including image smoothing,image segmentation,connectivity area mark) to achieve target detection and get target location information.Based on research and analysis in a variety of image feature and feature matching method,aimed at the characteristic of the target shape changing frequently in the radar image sequences,extract the features of target's location,area and moment invariant to complete the target matching in the image sequence,accomplishing target tracking. Aimed at the characteristic of targets maybe lost in some radar image,usingKalman filter predict the target's location information which can instead of the missing target's location information, helping establish a complete chain of the target in a image sequence.Based on the research above-mentioned,the dissertation accomplished the implementation of the entirely radar target detection software system. Through processing of radar image sequences, proved that this software system can detection and tracking the target in radar image sequences well.
