MIMO radar is a new system of radar which rises in recent years. It reflects the tremendous advantages in estimation of angles and the performance of target localization.Nowadays, arrays in bistatic MIMO radar are almost traditional uniform linear arrays. It's proved that the accuracy of estimation for target localization can be improved if the polarization-sensitive arrays are utilized. Polarization-sensitive arrays are new arrays which can get angle information of signals in spatial domain and polarization information of signals.Using array antenna technique can achieve accuate target localization in bistatic MIMO radar. Ho werer, when directions of multiple radar targets are closely spaced and cannot be well distinguished in spatial domain, the traditional algorithms are hard to estimate targets. Polarization diversity technique can achieve high-resolution estimation of targets, improve the performance of system. We will adopt different polarization-sensitive arrays in the receiver to achieve polarization diversity, so the target localization can be accurate. This work is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China project "Joint parameters estimation and target localization based on polarization diversity in MIMO radar"(No. 61071140). The major work is as follows:1,On the basis of traditional bistatic MIMO radar, target localization algorithms of bistatic MIMO radar based on polarized linear arrays is discussed in the paper.First, polarized signal model in bistatic MIMO radar is described.Then a new algorithm for joint estimation of DOD, DOA and polarization parameters in bistatic MIMO radar based on rotational invariance property and polarization sensitive array processing technology is proposed.The superiority is verified by simulation results comparing with traditional algorithm.Especially when multiple radar targets are closely spaced and cannot be well distinguished in spatial domain,the proposed algorithm can estimate targets with high-resolution identification and localization by making use of polarization diversity.2,Bistatic MIMO radar based polarized linear arrays is only effective for one dimension angle estimation of targets, it has drawbacks in obtaining two dimension spatial information.So we utilize polarized square arrays as receive arrays,constract a signal model and propose a joint estimation of DOD,2-D DOA and polarization parameters algorithm in bistatic MIMO radar.The algorithm not only estimates DOD and 2-D DOA but also obtain polarization information of targets.It utilizes effectively polarization diversity to identify targets and can locate accurately the targets in 3-D domain.
