An aurora is a complex and magnificent natural phenomenon display in the sky of Polar Regions. It is the most concentrated forms of expression about the physical processes (especially the magnetosphere-ionosphere interaction), and is a best window to the research of solar storms. With the observation on spatial structure and temporal evolution of the auroras, we can obtain much information of the solar wind-magnetosphere interaction and the magnetosphere-ionosphere interaction, which is helpful to research the influence of the solar activity on the earth. In addition, it is of great importance to the study of space weather activity, ionosphere and its dynamic features.Though millions of aurora images with complicated morphological characteristic are acquired annually by the ground-based observation of aurora, how to manage and utilize such a large data set of aurora images is still a demanding problem. In order to manage and analyze the all-sky aurora images efficiently, we layout and develop a software platform based on the Client/Server and MySQL under java environment. In this paper, firstly, the operation mode of the system is analyzed in detail at the base of demand analysis. Secondly, the transactions of the Server and Client are divided reasonably into several function modules. It makes the best use of the memory power and processing speed of the Server, and the data transmission is reduced greatly. Besides, the interface with each module is designed to facilitate the scalability of the system, access to aurora database and data transmission among modules, and so on. In addition, some algorithms for processing and analyzing aurora images are integrated in the platform, which is beneficial to other researchers to investigate varieties of aurora phenomenon. Experiments performed on the real-world aurora images indicate this system is of stability, reliability and easy accessibility.
