In order to satisfy the complex electromagnetic environment in the modern battlefield, the technology of low interception rate has become necessary for modern radar systems to meet the requirements of electronic warfare and information in military. In the radar signal selection, the two-phase code is easy to intercept and analyze. The orthogonal polyphase sequence has a complex signal structures, it is difficult to intercept and analyze by the enemy. Therefore, the signal of orthogonal polyphase sequence can be designed as radar signal with a low interception rate.In this paper, the theory of orthogonal polyphase sequence construction method is analyzed, and how to simplify the construction is depicted: Through the mathematical calculation of the construction of orthogonal polyphase sequence, it can be simplified. Compared with other methods the computational complexity is low. At the same time the performance of the orthogonal polyphase sequence is analyzed. The results show that, compared with the two-phase sequence code, orthogonal polyphase sequence is associated with a better auto correlation, more number of sequences and other advantages. So this sequence has a high application value in the field of radar system. As for the longer form of this code, the traditional optimization methods can not find the optimal solution because of the combinatorial explosion and local minimum resulted from the huge computation. The number of initial population size resulted in a larger operation in genetic algorithm. The way of taking simulated annealing algorithm into genetic algorithm can solve the problem. The feasibility and efficiency of the hybrid genetic algorithm can be demonstrated by the simulation and performance analysis of the orthogonal polyphase sequence: the optimal orthogonal polyphase code has been searched out, pulse compression simulation waveforms have been given, the optimal orthogonal polyphase sequence has been tested.
