Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy is a technique to analysis material. We take the Laser as stimulate illuminant. Then through analyzing the spectrum characteristics of certain interactions between laser and material, we can achieve material-detection.A portable detection system based on LIBS is designed and realized by using the high-power and small-volume microchip laser. This system suitable for material rapid detection in metal experiments. In our country, it has broad market prospects and it also accord with the establishment of a harmonious society needs, besides it has large social benefits and economic benefits. This paper shows us the domestic and foreign research history and status in LIBS, elaborating the plasma produced and principle of material-detection through LIBS and comparing the advantages and disadvantages with traditional methods. This paper then analysis the influence factors of LIBS detection, thus establishing the entire LIBS detection system. The LIBS system uses high peak power, high repetition rate, Q-switching of microchip laser as the excitation light source. It consists of the laser driver module, the microchip laser module, the sample and spectral analysis module and the display module.Fluorescence detection module using CCD as a detector; Data analysis processing module conduct pre-processing and analysising to measure the fluorescence spectra images.Meanwhile, we conformed that the system is practical through metal material analysis experiment. In order to further optimize this LIBS system, the traditional LIBS detection spectrum analysis method is discussed and analyzed in this paper. Then the shortcomings were summerised. We put forward LIBS spectral analysis method based on part-spectrum line matching. At last we verified the practicability of the method in this system through the above experiment mentioned After that, a spectral database was established according to analysis method based on part-spectrum line matching. In the end, after confirming the practicability of the system and the analysis algorithm, this paper also offers further research direction and research emphases on LIBS.
