With the explosive growth in the amount of information, the demand of bandwidth grows rapidly, which leads to improvement of network infrastructure and innovation of storage technology. High performance storage technology also draws many researchers' attention.10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) Standard was published in 2002, related products also have been released, which makes network storage based on high speed network become possible. IP-SAN is a storage area network (SAN) work over TCP/IP network. As a popular IP-SAN protocol Internet SCSI (iSCSI) has both advantage of IP network and storage area network. The emergence of lOGbE may highly improve the iSCSI protocol performance.This thesis focuses on the storage system based on high speed network. The main work of this thesis is as following:1. Simulate the iSCSI protocol based on lOGbE by using network simulator version 2. The simulation scenarios are designed to confirm the performance of 1 OGbE and coded in OTcl. Different packet Scheduling algorithms including DropTail, FQ, WFQ and DRR are implemented in the simulation models. The statistical analysis was applied to gain conclusions on delay, delay jitters, rate and rate jitter.2. For the purpose of improve the reliability and expandability, this thesis propose a network storage system based on high speed Ethernet. By combining the diskless workstation technology and the network storage, this system is able to separate the operation system from the storage device, profit from this, the high operation system data security and system management convenience can be achieved.3. Centralized management software is developed to supervise the network storage system. The management software is based on the simple network management protocol (SNMP). And both the functional module and the user interface module are developed in Java. User can manage all the storage device in the network on the management server.
