Tm-doped fiber laser has gotten applied in a diversity of fields, such as military, medicine, high-speed communication and industry manufacturing. Some 2μm wavelength of eye safe particularly is engaged in the focus of research sight. Besides, high-power output Tm-doped fiber laser would evolve into an alternative taken as the effective pumping source for fiber laser, which output waves between 2.5μm and 12μm. At present, experiment in lab is the trends for research on Tm-doped fiber laser. It is operated with kinds of techniques, for instance, clad-pumping, co-doping, and high-power multi-mode laser diode. In room temperature, Tm-doped fiber laser could generate high-power output and high-quality light beam. But in other side, Tm-doped fiber is expensive. Consequently, there is great significance that all kinds of parameters are deeply researched if cheap and high-quality Tm-doped fiber laser is expected.The major work involved is following:1.On the basis of energy level structure of thulium, the thesis introduce the fundamental theory of Tm-doped fiber laser, including characteristics of light spectrum, basic components, and pumping source, especially, knowledge on clad-pumping is presented exhaustively. Three kinds of pump scheme of the Tm-doped fiber laser are presented:3H6â†'3H4,3H6â†'3Hs,3H6â†'3F4, aside from some consideration on factors affecting fiber laser.2. Pump schemes mentioned are discussed theoretically.Afterwards,3H6â†'3H4 is took as an example and is used to set up mathematical model with method of velocity equation. In addition, some critical factors like fiber length and doping concentration are analyzed with MATLAB.Afterwards, some creative conclusions are drawn.3.The experiment setup of cladding-pumped Tm-doped Fiber Laser is accomplished with independently-developed Tm-doped fiber laser. We operate a series of adjustment procedures, and analyze anomaly instances. At length, laser light around 1930nm wavelength is achieved with 793nm LD as pumping source. Besides, certain improvement plans are summarized, and prospects about continued research are brought up.
