ABSTRACT:Optical Burst Switching (OBS) has been the research hotspot in recent optical network field, it combines advantages of optical circuit switching and optical packet switching, and overcomes some shortcomings, and it is a balance technology between the two methods. OBS technology can meet the requirements of explosive growth in business and the diversity of business, it is a promising optical switching technique. Currently it has many problems to be solved in OBS, in which that the contention between the data burst packets is one of the key technologies, it takes effect in OBS networks performance in great degree.In the paper, we choose the contention resolution as the research object, and have a deep study to the contention resolution. Base on the existed contention resolution, we propose LAUC-VF-BS resolution. The main contents of the paper are as follows:Firstly, have a study to the OBS architecture,the structure and function of core nodes and edge nodes,the basic working principle of OBS networks. On this basis, the clustering algorithm in edge nodes,control protocols in OBS networks are studied seriously.Secondly, have a deep study to the data channel scheduling algorithm of the core nodes in OBS networks, and analyze the performance of LAUC,LAUC-VF,ODBR in focus. We also do a deep research on the contention resolution between the burst data packets, analyze the performancre of optical buffer,wavelength conversion,deflection routing,burst segmentation in focus.Finally, on the basis of burst segmentation, we propose an improved solution LAUC-VF-BS. It is the combination of LAUC-VF and burst segmentation. It can use the intervals between burst packet fully. To analyze the performance of the program, we establish a simulation platform, give the main implementation process and have a simulation from two aspects of packet loss rate,link utilization. From the simulation results we know, using LAUC-VF-BS can effectively reduce packet loss rate and improve link utilization, it can improve network performance to a certain extent.
