We live in a rapidly changing age of advanced science and technology,and almost everybody own a mobile phone or digital camera. This makes it easy to obtain image resource. Also, Because of diversity of display devices, images have to be resized to be displayedon this monitors. . A key problem is how to quickly retarget the image to fit the screen with different aspect ratiowhile highlighting the significant objects in the image and avoiding distortion of these objects. Seam carving is an effective technique for content-aware image retargeting. It changes the size of an image by repeatedly removing or inserting minimum energy seams alternatively in both vertical and horizontal directions according to the size of the target image. Effective resizing of images should not only use geometric constraints, but also consider image content as well.. Seam carving method is finally resorted to the solution of a dynamic programming problem.This paper makes a case study on the aforementioned image resizing approach. Firstly, weimplement an interactive system based on the algorithm which provides some simple image interactive processing tools in addition to the content-aware image resizing operation. Secondly,we further analyze the complexity of the algorithm by a large of experiments in order tolooking for possible ways to improve efficiency.
