The protection and dissemination of Chinese ancient books is the priority of the library work. In recent years, digitization of ancient books has been carried out in full swing. After years of efforts, considerable progress has been made in digitization of ancient books. Many databases of ancient books have appeared in front of readers. Since most of the ancient documents can be preserved by scanning and photocopying, can be compile or copy easily, the accompanying copyright issue has to be solved. This type of copyright can be protected by digital watermarking.Based on the former researches and the characteristics of ancient book images, the work is focused on the visible watermarking used to protect the ancient book images.In this paper, we present an adaptive ancient image visible watermarking algorithm based on DWT domain. The original image is segmented into blocks based on the texture property, and different embedding intensities are used when embed the watermarking into the DCT domain of the original image to indicate ownership of the image. From the experimental results, the Stego‐images are extremely robust to common image processing such as Median filter, JPEG compression and cutting. It is difficult to remove the visible watermarking without damaging the image.According to the ideal ancient book seal images,we study the Regions of interest of image, and propose a digital watermarking method in ROI. The host image is decomposed into 2 levels using a DWT, and the watermark is embedded into the ROI. The host image is not required for watermark detection. Experimental results have shown that the embedded watermark is perceptually invisible and robust to various image processing operations. Most importantly, ROI does receive better protection.In order to test the validity of the two algorithms mentioned above, a lot of experiments are done. Experimental results demonstrate that our schemes are effective and useful. Because of the simpleness and convenience, they may be expected to have a better application prospect.Develop a system for visualization of information. Functions of the system include image importing, watermarking embedding, watermarking extraction and attacks.
