Wavelet analysis is a local analysis method in time-frequency domain and has a multi-resolution characteristic, which is based on the Short Time Fourier Transform. It is a useful tool to analyze the unstable signal that implements multi-scale analysis to the signal by the translation and dilation of the mother wavelet and extract effective information. It is a powerful tool to represent the signals in different levels and resolutions, and analysis can be based on actual needs of the dynamic adjustment time window and frequency window shapes and sizes. Therefore, the wavelet analysis in the local time-frequency analysis is very flexible and has been called time-frequency analysis of the microscope. Wavelet analysis in image processing has important applications, including image compression, image de-noising, image retrieval, image fusion, and video streaming. At first, the theory of wavelet analysis is introduced in detail, especially in DWT and multi-resolution analysis (MRA) theory, and then based on wavelet history and theory, this paper introduces the development of multi-wavelet and theory, at the same time, introduced the four characteristics of multi-wavelet, these theories and techniques are foundation of image fusion. With the image sensor technology, image fusion as an effective information fusion technology in many areas has been widely used. Image fusion technology is a collection of multiple sensors on the same target multiple images through image processing, extract data from various pieces of source image fusion in the same image. This paper studies the content is based on multiple wavelet theory of image fusion technology research. This text gives a systematic introduction to the background, the development conditions of image fusion and widely applications. Based on wavelet theory for multi-pixel level image fusion method, the subjective and objective evaluation criterions for the performance evaluation of image fusion are discussed; next, the choice of the decomposition level and the fusion ruler for the multi-wavelet based image fusion methods are discussed. The dissertation brings forward a new kind of arithmetic based on multi-wavelet image fusion; Issue in the design of fusion rule, for multi-wavelet transform decomposition of the low-frequency sub-band coefficients and high frequency sub-band coefficients were used a different design; Mass of experiment data validates the validity and the feasibility of the algorithm that the dissertation proposes.
