At present, Metro construction has entered a rapid development stage in our country.The fierce market competition of the Metro Information Storage System has also come, network storage system as an important part of the Metro Information Storage System will have a very broad market prospect in Metro Information Storage due to the technical and cost advantages.In addition, with the development of the network technology, network attached storage technology is becoming more and more perfect, we can expect that network attached storage system will be widely used in the metro information storage application. Based on the analysis of advantages and disadvantages of three types of storage systems and combined with the application environment, a design scheme of network attached storage system is proposed and the hardware and software design is given, the network attached storage system increases the data transmission rate and enhances the data storage reliability and flexibility, not only has important practical significance, but also has certain forward-looking.This thesis firstly analyzes advantages and disadvantages of three types of storage systems and briefly introduces the development trend of network storage technology. Then, Combining with requirements of the application environment, a design scheme of network attached system is proposed. Secondly, the EDA (Electronics Design Automation) tool of hardware development is introduced, and Allegro SPB 16.3 is adopted as the hardware design tool. Through analysis of design requirements, a scheme that NAS7821 as the core processor which supports RAID storage is given and other functional modules is introduced. Thirdly, the hardware implementation of the network storage system is described in detail, including the power supply system circuits, Gigabit Ethernet, memory modules and system expansion interface design. According to the special environmental requirements and combining with the concept of the environmental protection, redundant power design based on super-capacitor is proposed, the detail is elaborated at the same time. Then, the thesis introduces the PCB design and hardware test. Then, the system software implementation and testing is introduced, including the development of Linux system, application development and test, practical application of network storage system is introduced simultaneously. Finally, the conclusion and the future work are discussed at the end of this thesis.
