The Role Of Overseas Chinese (Chinese) In The Construction Of Soft Power In China

As the rising of China’s overall nation strength and its international reputation,China’s soft power has been given priority and significantly enhanced. However, there isstill disproportion between China’s soft power and its hard power. There has beensignificant changes to the circumstances of overseas Chinese since the opening up andreform. Overseas Chinese, as an elite group in the Chinese nation plays an indispensablerole in enhancing China’s soft power. They are the bridge linking the Chinese dream andthe world’s dream, the envoys of publicizing and presenting Chinese culture in aninnovative way, and the active supporters of China’s developments. This paper analyzedhow China built up its soft power influenced noticeably the survival and development ofoverseas Chinese and exemplified the great efforts put by the overseas Chinese inIndonesia and Singapore to foster the construction of China’s soft power. In conclusion,measures of facilitating overseas Chinese’s role in building up China’s soft power weresuggested.
