| Previous studies on Shi Zhecun’s literary works focused more on his fictions, but, his prose is another treasure worthy of being excavated. Though he has a deep cultural cultivation to Chinese classics and is proficient in western literature, his prose don’t have the rigid character and also few "foreign" flavor. It is different from the traditional Chinese notes and also not a copy of Western artistic prose essay. Impacted but not totally impacted by the "essay", and with its root anchored in the soil of Chinese culture, Shi Zhecun’s prose touches the soul of Lamb’s essay. His prose give us an impression of natural, relaxing, wise and express a spirit of focusing on the literature’s heart. With his daily life’s inspiration integrated with the thought coming from Chinese classical literary works and Western literary works, He gradually formed his prose characteristics. When compared with Liang Shiqiu, Liang Yuchun, and Qian Zhongshu’s English-style prose, Shi Zhecun’s prose show its unique value in the history of prose.So Shi Zhecun’s prose is worthy of further study.This thesis consists of three chapters:preface, main text and conclusion. In preface part, the writer summarizes the prose research done by previous scholars.The main text includes three chapters and the first is about the explanation of the prose. This chapter analysis the essay’s formation process in the evolution of western literature, and shows its essential differences between Chinese traditional literature and essays. After that, it summarizes the foreign nutrients in Shi Zhecun’s prose. Respectively his prose learned a lot of other prose, especially presents the lamb’s essay style of conversation. The second chapter is to be compared with some authors. By Comparing his works with Liang Yuchun, Liang Shiqiu, Qian’s, we can further clarify the characteristics of Shi Zhicun’s prose. The third chapter involves his prose’s absorption and recreation to essay. He used this literary form in his academic research——Overviewing of Tang Poems. In fact, Quotations of Yunjian, which owns pure and fresh languages and has the characteristics of our traditional Chinese essays, also shows this kind of essay style. Actually, Quotations of Yunjian absorbs the characteristics from both Chinese traditional essays and the west essays, and it deeply expresses the author’s homesick feelings and gives us an infinite imagination. Then on the basis of a comprehensive understanding to his prose, we analysis its unique spiritual connotation in the prose and explain his nationalization in essay writing.The Conclusion part explains his choice’s meaning of learning the west essay, summing up the experiences of his nationalization of the essay’s contribution to the Chinese prose, and grasp his western prose’s position in the history of Chinese prose. |
