A Study Of The Characters Of "Aphasia" In Left - Wing Novels (1928-1937)

This paper is carding the categories of "aphasia" characters from Left Wing Novels in year between 1928 and 1937 by reading in details, explores historical and realistic reason of why the representatives of Left Wing Writers, for example, Jiang Guangci, Ye zi, Rou Shi. Hu Yepin. have shown this type of character in their novels at the same time, and defines the literary historian meaning and literary value of this type of character from a new literature character perspective.The first chapter, refers to the definition in "Word-Ocean Dictionary", this paper analysis "Aphasia" from a medical, social and culture point of view. In the meantime, this paper also make comments on "aphasia’" phenomenon and "aphasia" character regarding to current academic research achievements. These related researches will lead to the issues explored in this paper.The second chapter, classified the "aphasia" characters which described in Left Wing Novels. In the Left Wing Novels, "aphasia" characters are divided into:bottom social women aphasia, "new women" aphasia and the intellectual aphasia. Bottom social women aphasia are divided into numbness subservient type and crucifixion against type:while’’new women" aphasia are divided into aphasia in pursuit of love and aphasia in pursuit of revolution. Intellectuals, the third category of aphasia, is overlapped with aforementioned "new women" aphasia, but considering the special nature of intellectuals in modem China, this paper will analysis them separately. Form vagabond intellectuals to revolutionary intellectuals, they produced the different reactions on "aphasia", some of them are having no choice, some of them are resisting. Based on the analysis of "aphasia" characters’categories in Left Wing Novel, this chapter has a depth analysis of the characteristics of Left Wing literature from this perspective.The third chapter, focused on the reason of why aphasia characters appears. Aphasia characters batch appears in Left Wing Novel, mainly caused by the influence of "Wu-Si" Enlightenment tradition and Left Wing class literature concept, especially the latter. The purpose of Left Wing literature shape aphasia characters is to highlight and strengthen the theme of class contrariety and antagonism, and this is inseparable with the dominant influence of Soviet Union Rapp and Japan Left Wing theory in Chinese Pu Luo literature in a period of time. In addition, traditional "writings are for conveying truth" ideas and "Wu-Si" new literature enlightenment tradition has also played a role in this situation.The fourth chapter, describes the literary historian meaning and literary value. In ideological trend change of literature revolution to revolution literature, from the "loners" and "remnants’" which have social general meanings in "Wu-Si" period, developed to "disillusion persons’" which reflect the radical young emotions in national revolution period, and then developed to "aphasia" which purposed by the class literature view in 1930s, all profound reflect that social changes affect literatures into a one way plunging. When "Subject Fighting Spirit" from Left Wing Writers encounter "Mental Slavery Trauma" from ordinary people, it requires the main body of creation to awaken the public, so objects can be sober, change and self-conscious take part in the revolution. Ultimately, aphasia characters in Left Wing literatures is about Left Wing writers subjectively shape of reality, and the value in reality truthfulness and literature truthfulness are both questionable.
