The Concerto in D major for Oboe and Small Orchestra, AV 144, was written by Richard Strauss when he was 81. During composer Strauss’ s late period, he was enjoyed the woodwind work; so, he had already known the style and characteristics of woodwind instrument like the back of his hand. This oboe piece shows a gracious fully immersive virtuosity and musical expression under the orchestral accompaniment with bold composition style, extraordinary melody and ridiculous harmonic texture. All of the above give a cross-time significance for the development of oboe. First of all, this article begins with the background in which Richard Strauss ’s whole lifetime and his composing settings; further analyzing with the idea that composer expressed. Secondly, dividing this oboe work according to the texture structure with a detailed analysis; making an interpretation and comprehension with comparing the issues with ourselves and exclusive Oboe premium players. asking questions and technical difficulties encountered in playing for the majority of oboe players to provide theoretical and technical references.
