Entering the period of social transition especially,the social states of intellectual have changed drastically in the background of changeable age.The classics which reflect the spiritual fissions of intellectual and high achievements of Chinese contemporary literature are being created. Li Er who is a scholar-type writer with high consciousness always concerns the writing position and survival condition of the intellectual. This text studies the narrative of intellectual,the establishment of writing position and the constitution of images.Moreover,analyzing his persistence of intellectual writing position and transition because of social change in his works. Meanwhile, putting him in intellectual narrative tradition of Chinese contemporary literature to find his value and limitations.Chapter one analyzes the intellectual narration of Li Er according a diachronic perspective. Family environment and school education which giving the earliest literary enlightenment for Li Er in his childhood. Both of them bring have effects on his road of literary creation and potential intellectual position. Study period is his cultural childhood in East China Normal university where he updated his knowledge pedigrees and found a new theoretical resources himself.In 90’s cultural context,the formation of intellectual narrative style is born of professional education and academic life in study period.Besides,the aesthetic taste of literary editors and the plan of literary journals also affect his literary creation.Chapter two discusses constitution of images about intellectual narration.We can entering the center hold of Li Er’s literary creation by interpreting images such as sycamore,sitting-room,hospital and so on.Li Er reveals the survival difficult position and living dilemma of intellectuals in “afternoon”(a recapitulative key word in Li Er’s literary creation)by imagery.Concurrently,describing the disappeared trail of intellectual humanism by spatial motion.Most noteworthy is the local writing with intellectual identity that differ from most writers who are born in 1950 s.In his works,local narration is not a new aesthetic style but the same writing position and aesthetic idea as intellectual narration. Therefore, Li Er’s local narration can be regarded as the proof about writing practice.
