Analysis On The Suitability Condition Of Rumor Transmission

Rumor spreads, as a kind of ancient cultural phenomena, seriously thread the foundation of the society and the humanity, from which the reflection of social issues has been caught psychologically. As the renowned rumor-scholar Jean Kapferer once said “Rumors speak as a whole. The emergence of rumors is the result of information grasped by a certain group, by whom the rumors are enriched by countless omens or news which are given by some deep sense.” Then by what kind of sense given here could push the process of rumor spread on the considerable social communicative schema, more than once in all directions. Significant influence has been brought by such kind of speech act, on which is the thesis focusing.Advantages of the previous researching fruit will be taken from different fields and the definition of RUMOR will be drawn under the prospect of pragmatics. Pragmatic features of rumor, meanwhile, will be synthetically analyzed, including the rumor spread phenomenon under one communicative schema by the felicity conditions in Speech Act Theory. Finally the pragmatic formula of rumor spread will be given from view of the pragmatic force. Elements of rumor spread, especially the factors as: participants, information, context and codes, will be synthetically examined under the framework of felicity conditions and the pragmatic force. Consequentially, approaches and means in bringing rumor under control will be given based on the previous pragmatic prospect.
