An Analysis Of The Text Of English Intellectual Property Contract

With genre analysis theory, corpus linguistics, and corpus analysis methods, this dissertation tried to do a deeper research on the moves, corpus concordance and collocation of English IP(Intellectual Property) contracts. The result shows that, in order to achieve the purposes of IP transactions, English IP contracts as written legal texts regularizing rights and obligations of the parties, have 18 clear genre structures(move structures) and information, rhetoric and vocabulary language use strategies.The significance of this study lies in the fact that, the analysis based on genre theory and corpus linguistics of English IP contract texts in this paper reflects the trend of comprehensive analysis on genre, provide a reference of analyzing sub-genres of commercial contracts, and makes more English IP contracts users and learners concern about genre features and language usage.
