Compared with many other South African realistic writers, Coetzee chose to reflect those South Africa issues like colonial oppression and ethnic conflicts and struggles from a more diversified perspective. Such perspective diversification is not only manifested in his discourse mechanism to consciously subvert colonialism via the form of novel creation but also in his unique South Africa myths imagined and fictioned based on South African reality as discovered by his own independent insight, thereby excavating the influence of various thematic factors in the struggle against colonialism. In this paper, with taking his myth construction as the subject and his imagination and fiction about South African as the starting point, the discourse creation mechanism of Coetzee’s novels was explored based on his works and relevant discourse theories. During this process, the premise, patterns and significance of South Africa myths constructed by Coetzee were described separately, thus contributing to achieving a comprehensive understanding of Coetzee’s South Africa myths, acquiring their literary and theoretical values, as well as investigating their practical significance. | Keywords/Search Tags: | J.M.Coetzee, South Africa, Myth | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
