It recorded in written form in the 1960s, and the other forms of work has continuously published. In the process of inheritance it has influenced by different age, historic cultures, society and the tradition, and formed various versions. The paper sets out to research the transfer issue of written records of text and studies the oral transmission and historic of the legend.The first chapter bases on the seven versions of "xiao hua ma zhuan" and figures out some problems about the publishing record and transfer of the text, which illustrates the problems in the process of recording and publishing. Finally it preliminary discuses the transfer of text, it divided into steps like from the record to the Kirill, Kirill to the Huihe, and Todo Mongolian uzug to the Huihe.The second chapter researches the classification and variation of the publishing and discuses the reason that "xiao hua ma zhuan" seen as a written literature. Based on the classification of the publishing text, it founds that the reason why some researchers see "xiao hua ma zhuan" as a written literature and its formation. Through the change of subject and event, it illustrates the "xiao hua ma zhuan" in not written literature but the variability of oral literature occupied the main position.The third chapter analyzes the historic of legend by exploring the prototype of it and the historical roots of the other important factors. In the prototype research it calculates the motif occurrences probability through the motif classification, and based on the date to create the prototype of legend. In addition, it also studies the character of legend and the historic roots of the place names. Finally, the author expresses on own idea about the historic of "xiao hua ma zhuan" based on the analysis.
