There are morethings worth us to explore that are hiding behind those’tags’Yanhan used his woodcut knife to sculpture the artworks that related to the warfare. For him, the woodcut knife is more than just a tool but a weapon to create powerful artworks. Those of the artworks are now becoming vital historical materials to study’woodcut in Chinese liberated area’Although he had experienced the wartime of China, Yanhan never give up his career as an artist.after 1979, the 60years old Yanhan has created a serious of ’adolescent’artworks. He has used some abstract language and symbols in his artworks, as well as some new materials, which is hard to associate with his age and life experiences.Yanhan’s road of life was filled with frustration; however, it never influenced his art creation. This research is try to find out the reason that lead him change his ways of art creation after the year of 1979.The revolution time is a special experience in his life. In this time he started created his works in a " Realism" style, and the "militancy inspiration" began to prominented. In the Anti-Rightists Movement and the Great Cultural Revolution, Yanhan began a self-examination about his life and art, and this experience gave him a chance to prepared for the change. After 1979, Yanhan’s huge change in art began, behind the change, is the "militancy inspiration", is a self-examnation, is a rebirth of his art. And he was always show solicitude for the humanity.
