As the expanding of teaching Chinese as a second language, more and more textbooks of Chinese culture are being written, published and applied. However, as the lack of proper rules in the writing of Chinese culture textbooks, various of problems in this field are noticed, including the ambiguity in its orientation, unsystematic and wanting the sense of intercultural communication. Therefore, based upon the series textbooks published by Beijing University, the writer studied the theories in educational psychology and communication between cultures, and tried to find out the basic rules and issues in the writing of Chinese culture textbooks.The rules applied in the series textbooks published by Beijing University were analyzed through three aspects--structure, content and exercise. Firstly, regarding the structure of textbook-writing, the writer referred to the theory in effective teaching, and noticed that an reasonable structure could offer a good platform for meaningful teaching content and make the contents in logic term. Secondly, the writer revealed the three orientations in the choice of culture contents. The first orientation is to meet the foreign students’ needs in learning the deep culture of China. The second one is to meet the needs in improving intercultural communication. And the third one is to improve Chinese by learning Chinese culture. Meanwhile, constructing a complete system and being impersonal are two important rules in composing the contents, which effectively and objectively built a complete Chinese culture system for the foreign students. Accordingly, the writer proposed some teaching strategies, especially three teaching methods, including cross-culture reading, performing another culture and task-oriented teaching. Thirdly, the two rules in exercise setting were specified, i.e. effectiveness and unbiasedness. And the classification in types of exercise were proposed as well. According to the analysis upon the exercise setting in this series of textbooks, it reflected the rules in exercise setting and showed that many different types of exercise were applied in a reasonable proportion.To sum up, the series of Chinese culture textbooks published by Beijing University is scientific, well-rounded, and practical. It revealed insights to the writing of Chinese culture textbooks. Meanwhile, the writer proposed two suggestions--one was that the writing of Chinese culture textbooks should based upon the pedagogy, and the other was that the layout of contents should be more "modern".
