Since the cold war, the geopolitical of Cambodia has experienced the changes from fragmentation to restructuring. It is not only one of the forefront to the United States and the Soviet union camps for cold and hot war games during the cold war, and one of the southeast Asian countries has been actively strive for the outside political forces on the geopolitical strategy after the cold war. In cause changes in the Cambodian geopolitical factors, external factors are dominant factors. Moreover, the differentiation and combination of domestic political parties to conflict that are the important factors. Therefore, since the cold war, the geopolitical of Cambodia has geopolitical chessboard and geostrategic wedge characteristics significantly. This thesis is based on the dynamic theory of geopolitics to evaluate and discuss the trends, causes, elements and characteristics of Cambodia geopolitical changes since the cold war.On research to Cambodian geopolitical,both in Cambodia due to the shortages of research by China, and clear as a result of the current China’s geopolitical strategy positioning in Cambodia consider that the reality of the proposition, or evaluate and maintain the present direction of bilateral friendly relations in a theoretical exploration.This thesis consists of three parts:the Introduction,the Text and the Conclusion. The introduction introduced the origins thought of proposition and the significance of the research,the current research at home and abroad,the research framework and research focus,the main research methods and innovations.The text consists of four chapters,and the structure is as follows:The chapter One,on the theory of geopolitics’ perspective to Cambodian geopolitical.At first,this chapter reviewed and discussed the development of geopolitical theory and dynamic theory of geopolitics,and then summed up the surroundings that Southeast Asian geopolitical characteristics around the Cambodian geopolitical,and finally concluded the geopolitical characteristics in Cambodian,and defined some key geopolitical terms about Cambodian geopolitical.The chapter Two,in the early period of cold war, the constitution of Cambodian geopolitical.The first part explored France returned to Indochina U.S. through assistance France to intervene Indochinese affairs,and the effects of geopolitical in Cambodia. The second part discussed the Bao Dai’s regime that has been built and the Chinese geopoitical changes for an impact to Cambodia. The chapter Three,the Cambodian geopolitical changed in the mid-late period of cold war. This chapter mainly discussed the Second Indochinese War and Vietnam invaded Cambodia that had the geopolitical effects on Cambodia,and the geopolitical shatterbelts of Cambodia.The chapter Four,the new trends of Cambodian geopolitical in the post cold war.This chapter mainly analyzed the inner Cambodian geopolitical differentiation and combination features among the post-cold war period in Cambodia,and it outer geopolitical how to push the ASEAN toward unification, and how to balanced the south China sea dispute, and played a positive role in GMS,and the Cambodian how to become the geopolitical chessboard and geostrategic wedge under the new situation.Conclusion.Summarized the full text, and discussed the shortage that what aspects need to further study of this research. In addition, the current need to focus on several propositions in the research of Cambodian geopolitical, namely the post Sihanouk era of the China-Cambodia bilateral relations, China’s geopolitical strategy positioning problem for Cambodia, south peninsula countries’ geopolitical changes that can influence of geopolitical problems in Cambodia, which has made the outline to explore so that for follow-up study.
