The art of dancing performance include its formality and content. It’s the combination of the beauty of outer formality and inner implications that consist the pursuit of the art of dancing. The classical dancing Shenyun, namely the body movement and leg step, make up the outer skills, while the rhyme make up the inner beauty. Only when we coordinate the two perfectly will us truly express the features and values of its aesthetic appreciation. Sun linzhi, a scholar in Qing dynasty, stress that rhyme is same to motion, the behavior of a graceful lady, is attractive for her rhyme. The Yun is the greatest manifestation of the grand nature what artistic works try to interpret. The use of breath make it possible to bring about rhyme, rhyme give birth to emotions, emotions therefore take in breath, and breath forms the style, style thereafter shows the rhyme. The Yun of sword dancing means “ the unity of form and spirit, physically and mentally involved, the coordination of the inside and outside matters. It is the features and soul of classical dancing. In my perspective, in the training and practicing of sword dancing should be given more stress on the combination of skill and rhyme. The expression of dancing performance is the the beauty of rhyme. The works of art in terms of Chinese classical sword dancing should be more focused on the expression of rhyme. It is not the performance of postures, magnificent brandish of the sword, but the understanding of its unique style, features and emotions implications that make it a perfect classical sword dancing. The basic skills include keeping with rhythm, breath taking, handling of spiritual charm. The sword dancing is an artistic way of express emotions.
