The paper around one thing in common that share the theme of“wait for” from the four dramas The Blinds,The Iceman Cometh,Waiting For Godot,Someone Is Going To Come. It has a detailed and in-depth study for these works to explain how the theme to express and continue. At the same time, it makes a contrast and a conclusion to the differences and innovativeness of the creative process by the playwrights. And it tries to explore the reasons and the significance of continuation and innovation deeply.The paper starts from The Blinds by Maurice Maeterlinck to show how it triggers the theme of “wait for” for the first time. Thus it gets a further play from the work Waiting For Godot by Samuel Beckett; Then make a kind of definition and cognizance for the writing style of Eugene O’Neill who is a great playwright. Through the comparison between the work “The Iceman Cometh” by Eugene O’Neill and the work Waiting For Godot by Samuel Beckett, seeing how the drama with thick realistic color and the absurd theater to express the similar theme. And to analyze the impact relationship between the postmodernism characteristic that is presented by Someone Is Going T o Come of Jon Fosse and his creation with predecessors. At last, through the comprehensive summary, to explore the theme “wait for” which brings the art rheological in the continuation and the revelation that dramatic art explores to the nature of life and world.
