On The Activities Of Wizards In Modern Shanghai

Since modern times, Shanghai has been praised for its highly developed social economy and splendid image of the city. However under the appearance of bustling prosperous, there is also a large number of various types of wizards activities, scattered across the city and each corners of the countryside, which forming part of a belief in life of the people. My research of modern Shanghai wizard activities is on the basis of native records, newspapers, archives and other literature materials, combined with author’s fieldwork.The first chapter defines the conception of "wizard" and "wizard activity” to explore several basic arguements about regional distribution and time characteristics of Shanghai wizard activities. The second chapter carries on the classification to the various wizard activities in Shanghai to carry out detailed investigation, the basic characteristics, historical change analysis, consulting and medical sacrifice wizard activities one by one. The third chapter reviews and analyzes supporting strength and restricting power impact on Shanghai wizard activities. The conclusion part answers the question of why wizard activities in modern Shanghai existing for a continuous long time.Because of the specific object, the paper is devoted to presenting facts, and giving detailed analysis on Shanghai regional wizard activities based on characteristics of wizard activities, rather than judge and explain on world view, ontology etc.
