The New Jinling Painting School standed out in 1960s in the sketching activity and became the new representative of the New China’s paintings about expression to its motherland’s great rivers and mountains. Whit the governmental support in political system cultural production predesigned its purpose, planning and inner working mechanism, differing from the traditional Chinese paintings. The New Jinling Painting School created a new meaning in the context of new history, that is,"The soul and the framework should adapt to each other". This paper will analyze the New Jinling Painting School from a sociological view and historical background to consider its formation and development. At the same time, we want to reveal the implication of modern community’s characteristics in the special context. Thus, we have a deeper understanding of the continuous change of the new Chinese painting in the 20th century. In addition, under the driving of cultural creative industry, painting schools boom one after one everywhere in China. Thus, the ensuing controversy makes it necessary for us to seek a revelation in the historical development, rethinking its meaning to the present.
